Miguel Cabrera's Monster Season (So Far...)
How special is Miguel Cabrera? This year he's putting up numbers that only Jimmie Fox and Babe Ruth have ever done. Cabrera is on pace to finish the season at .356/50/157. Lets put that into historical perspective shall we. Cabrera could be the first player since the fore mentioned Fox and Ruth to ever have a season with a slash line of .350/50/150. I will tell you why Cabrera's season is better than Ruth's and Fox's. In their era, they saw the same pitcher almost every AB of the game. Today's hitters face multiple pitchers a game. By the third or fourth AB Ruth and Fox were already accustomed to the pitcher's arsenal. By time Cabrera strolls around for his third or fourth AB he more than likely is facing another pitcher, so he has another array of pitches to try and hit. )Also, lets not forget Cabrera is trying to win the Triple Crown in back to back years, a feat that has yet to be accomplished.) Miguel Cabrera is having a season for the ages, a season that may be when it's all said and done, the greatest season of all time. We are truly witnessing greatness.
